The RallyRates Index
A neutral U.S. mortgage-rate benchmark: the average note rate across lenders’ own published rate sheets — monitored politely, sorted lowest-APR-first, and nobody pays to be included or to rank. The Optimal Blue OBMMI market index sits alongside as an independent cross-check. Free to read and free to cite.

Methodology
Per-product market rate = Optimal Blue OBMMI (daily, lock-based, via FRED). Lender panel = real published rate sheets, monitored politely (report-not-route). Coverage is thin by design; thinness shows as absence, never filler.
- Sourced-lender panel: we monitor lenders’ own public rate pages — one polite request at a time (a “monitor, not a scraper”). The Index rate for a product is the simple mean of those real published note rates. Refreshed multiple times daily.
- Neutrality: the ranking is walled off from money. We take no payment from the lenders we list, and no payment can move a lender up the board — lowest APR ranks first, always.
- Independent cross-check: the Optimal Blue OBMMI (lock-based, daily, via the St. Louis Fed’s FRED) is shown beside our panel so you can compare our transparently-sourced average to a broad market index.
- Honest limits: not all lenders or offers are shown; coverage grows over time and thinness shows as absence, never filler. Figures are informational — not live quotes, not offers of credit, and not a substitute for a lender’s own quote.
